SPAP Pediatric PA of the Year

The SPAP Pediatric PA of the Year Award recognizes an outstanding Physician Assistant who has demonstrated exceptional dedication to the care of children and adolescents. This annual award honors a PA who exemplifies excellence in clinical practice, leadership, education, advocacy, and service to the pediatric community.

Eligibility

Nominees should:

  • Be a currently practicing Physician Assistant providing care to pediatric patients

  • Demonstrate excellence in clinical care, leadership, education, research, or advocacy

  • Show meaningful contributions to pediatric health or the pediatric PA profession

Nomination Process

Nominations may be submitted by colleagues, supervisors, educators or other healthcare professionals who are familiar with the nominee’s work.

A complete nomination should include:

  • A completed nomination form

  • Once nominated, a current CV will be requested from nominees

Selection

Nominations will be reviewed by a committee of pediatric PA leaders who will evaluate candidates based on their professional achievements, leadership, impact on pediatric care and service to the profession.

Deadline

All nominations must be submitted by April 15, 2026.

2025 Pediatric PA of the Year

Jinae Spear, MMS, PA-C

Jinae Spear is a PA with over 10 years of experience in pediatrics.  She currently practices in Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine at Texas Children’s Hospital.  Her dedication to pediatric medicine is clear through her contributions to patient and student education, mentorship, leadership and research. She is a respected mentor and educator, having precepted PA students, presented at national conferences, and organized professional development initiatives. Jinae's belief in the importance of health literacy is clear through her creation of family-centered blog posts and patient-friendly educational hand-outs. Her scholarly contributions reflect a commitment to evidence-based practice, system-level efficiency, and improved patient outcomes. Please join us in congratulating Jinae!
